Do I need a new roof before installing a roof-mounted solar system?
This all depends on the condition of the roof. Generally speaking, if the roof is in good condition, a new roof will not be necessary. However, if the roof is getting towards the end of its life, it is probably best to invest in a new roof before installing the solar system. It is possible to remove the panels and then reinstall them after a new roof has been applied, but this would be additional cost to the homeowner.
